Immigration Lawyer Serving Clients Nationwide
You may need immigration help even when the attorney you want to work with lives in another state. Immigration law is federal. For many matters, Juliana Garcia Law Professional Corporation can represent clients in all 50 states without requiring them to travel to California for meetings.
Attorney Juliana is licensed in California, State Bar number 287307, and was admitted in 2012. A California-licensed attorney can practice federal immigration law for clients in other states, subject to the rules of the agency or court involved. That does not mean she handles every state's laws or that every case can be completed remotely.
Who can work with us from another state
We first review the type of matter and where it is pending. Remote representation may be suitable for people who need help with:
- USCIS filings, including family petitions and applications for permanent residence when the facts support that path.
- A VAWA self-petition involving abuse by a qualifying family member and concerns about privacy at home.
- A U visa after certain crimes, or a T visa related to human trafficking, with careful review of each program's requirements.
- Naturalization questions involving immigration history, eligibility, and records that need review before filing.
- An appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), where the existing record and filing deadline need prompt attention.
Living outside California does not by itself prevent representation. We still need to confirm that the legal work and any required appearances fit your situation.
Federal representation has a defined scope
An immigration filing may involve federal rules even when you live far from our Long Beach office. Many USCIS matters and BIA appeals can be prepared through remote meetings and document review. We explain which agency will decide your matter and what work our agreement covers.
Some questions also involve state law. For example, a criminal charge or a family court order may affect an immigration review. Federal immigration representation does not replace advice from an attorney authorized to handle that separate state-law issue. We discuss when additional legal help may be needed rather than treating every issue as an immigration filing.
Privacy when home is not a safe place to talk
For a VAWA self-petition, safe communication can be as important as collecting records. Tell us whether someone else can access your phone, email, or mail. We can discuss suitable contact instructions before asking you to send sensitive information. Choose a private place for a video or phone appointment when possible.
For a U visa or a T visa, evidence may come from people or agencies in different locations. We help identify relevant documents and explain what still needs to be requested. We do not assume that a police report alone establishes eligibility or that every experience of abuse fits the same immigration option.
Local appointments and out-of-state court hearings
Remote legal meetings do not remove government appointment requirements. You may still need to attend biometrics, an interview, or a hearing at the location directed by the government. We review the notice and explain preparation, but do not promise that an appointment can be moved or attended online.
In-person court appearances outside California are evaluated case by case. Before agreeing to representation, we discuss the court's requirements and whether the proposed arrangement is feasible. For BIA appeals, we review the decision, record, and deadline; an appeal does not automatically resolve every question about enforcement or your ability to remain in the country.
How remote representation works
Start with a paid consultation
Schedule a $60 phone or video consultation. Tell us your state, the agency handling your matter, and any upcoming deadline so we can assess the proposed work.
Set safe communication instructions
We discuss how to reach you and share documents securely. If you use a shared device or cannot safely receive mail, raise that concern before sending personal records.
Review records together
Share readable copies through the secure method we arrange. Keep originals unless instructed otherwise. Juliana personally reviews your case and explains possible paths and missing evidence.
Confirm scope and prepare filings
If you hire the firm, the agreement identifies the covered work. We discuss available payment plans, draft the necessary materials, and give you an opportunity to review information before signing.
File and track the next steps
Filings are submitted by mail or electronically as permitted or required by the agency. Keep copies and share new notices so we can discuss appointments and follow-up within the agreed representation.
A working relationship, not just a document upload
Distance should not leave you guessing about why a question matters. We explain how your history connects to the filing and what a request for evidence is meant to address. Phone and video meetings let you ask questions in English or Spanish without a trip to our Long Beach office.
As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, Juliana understands that a case can affect the whole family. She brings more than 13 years of immigration litigation experience and offers an honest review of your options. You remain involved by checking drafts, keeping contact details current, and promptly sharing government mail.
Frequently Asked Questions
Must my immigration attorney be licensed in my state?
For many federal immigration matters, a California-licensed attorney may represent you in another state. We confirm the agency's requirements and the scope of the matter before accepting representation.
Does nationwide service include traveling to every court?
No. In-person appearances outside California are evaluated individually. We discuss feasibility before agreeing to that work rather than promising attendance anywhere in the country.
Can I complete every step from home?
Not necessarily. Our meetings may be remote, but government notices may require local in-person attendance. Follow the notice unless the responsible agency or court changes its instructions.
What if I move to another state during my case?
Tell us before the move when possible. A new address may require updates with more than one agency, and a pending court case may raise separate venue questions. Do not assume mail forwarding updates your immigration records.
